A mini photovoltaic plant is simply a small solar energy system. They are often called mini PV systems, guerrilla PV systems or plug-in solar systems, too. Such mini solar systems for balconies, roofs, facades or gardens are connected directly to the domestic grid via a plug, which is known as plug & play. As soon as the sun shines on the solar panels, the solar energy gained is converted into usable domestic electricity.
In Germany mini PV plant can be installed, for example, on a balcony, the garden shed and any type of roof or open space. Only a power socket must be available nearby in order to be able to use the electricity.
It is important that the solar panels are used exclusively to supply electricity to the household and reduce electricity consumption from the public grid during the day. Surplus electricity is fed into the grid but is not rewarded as with large PV systems.
Combining a mini PV system with an electricity storage unit is usually not profitable because the electricity produced is consumed directly in the household by electrical devices such as TVs, PCs, fridges, etc.
